Essential Job Functions

The Exhibition Assistant III is a 30 – 40 hour a week non-student temporary position through February 6, 2026 at The Turchin Center for the Visual Arts at Appalachian State University. Exhibition Assistants must be interested in the visual arts and have two years' experience working in art galleries, museums of other exhibition spaces. The Exhibition Assistant III reports directly to the Senior Curator at the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts, part of the Office of Arts Engagement and Cultural Resources. As a curatorial technician position at Appalachian State University, this position is instrumental to the implementation of the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts' exhibition program through participation in all aspects of preparation and installation/de-installation.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated participation in the coordination and implementation of exhibitions using museum best practices
Demonstrates a high level of organization, communication, and time management skills
Experiences with installation of site-specific and new media installations
Experience working with living artists,
Strong administrative skills taking direction and working independently

Work Schedule/Hours

Monday-Friday, 8:30-5:00, for 30-40 hours, depending on exhibition schedule. Exact schedule to be worked out with immediate supervisor. Occasional evening hours during exhibition openings, ArtTalks, and related programming.

Hiring Range $18.00
